A recent decision within the scope of the Social Security Appeals Council drew attention by recognizing the right to an age-based retirement benefit as of the date the application was filed, even though the insured individual was already receiving an age-based retirement benefit under a different administrative request.
In this case, the insured had been retired since October 10, 2025, under a different benefit number. However, the panel determined that he must be advised as to the most advantageous benefit, in accordance with CRPS Statement No. 1, with any necessary financial adjustments, should more favorable amounts be identified.
Another central aspect of the decision was the review of corrections in the National Register of Social Information (CNIS). After the regularization of the records, employment relationships recorded in the Work Card were considered, and contributions made as an individual contributor were validated.
As a result, the insured reached a total of 180 monthly contributions as of the filing date of the application (DER). Accordingly, compliance with the minimum qualifying period required for the granting of an age-based retirement benefit was duly established.
